Preparing for your newborn and baby photo shoot

These are just some helpful tips, so please don't worry if you forget to do any of them, I know what it's like when you have just had a baby, so please relax and I will work around you and your baby.

  • To secure your booking, I advise booking just after your 20 week scan, so not to miss out on getting the photos taken in the first few weeks. All I need is £50 to secure your booking, which will be deducted off you chosen collection once you have viewed the images.

  • If you are booking a posed newborn session then babies are best photographed from 7days - 4 weeks old, as they are at their sleepiest stage and able to do those lovely curly poses, although this is not essential and we can still do the session with much older babies up to 6 weeks of age. I also photograph the mile stone ages, of 6-9 months, 12 months and 18 months, as either a studio style portrait or as an outdoor session. Please phone or email me if you have any queries.

  • Newborn portrait sessions can last anywhere from 3-4 hours. This time allows for prop changes, feeding, nappy changes, and letting baby settle and of course cuddles.

  • If possible try to keep your little one awake for some time before the shoot and then they can have a good feed while we chat about what style photos you would like to have in your home. This will help with keeping them sleepy at the start of the session. Please DON'T worry if this doesn't happen, I know what it’s like!

  • If you would like any photo’s taken with siblings or yourself, please wear neutral clothing, with no patterns or logos, as this will distract from your faces. It also gives the photos a lovely natural look.
